The Catholic Diocese of Okigwe joyfully celebrated the Episcopal Silver Jubilee of her Chief Shepherd, Most Rev. Solomon A. Amatu, marking twenty-five years of faithful and dedicated episcopal ministry. The historic occasion brought together bishops, priests, religious, government officials, and the lay faithful in thanksgiving to God for the gift of Bishop Amatu's leadership, pastoral zeal, and unwavering commitment to the growth of the Church. The celebration was marked by a solemn Eucharistic celebration, heartfelt tributes, and prayers for God's continued blessings upon the Bishop as he continues to shepherd the people of God with wisdom, humility, and fatherly care.

The parish priest and parishioners of Assumption Parish, Ukwunwangwu-Uturu celebrated this year's Feast of Pentecost in grand style, as they welcomed the presence of Most Rev. Solomon Amatu, the Catholic Bishop of Okigwe. The bishop, who came on a surprise extraordinary pastoral visit to the parish, celebrated the holy mass with the faithful. As part of his extraordinary surprise package for the visit, the bishop made a donation of one of his official cars to the parish for the enhancement of the ongoing work of evangelization in the parish.

Okigwe Deanery joyfully celebrated the 2026 Cathedraticum with His Lordship, Most Rev. Solomon A. Amatu, at St. Mary's Pro-Cathdral Parish, Okigwe. The annual celebration brought together priests, religious, and lay faithful of the deanery in a spirit of thanksgiving, unity, and communion with their Bishop. In his homily, Bishop Amatu encouraged the faithful to remain steadfast in faith and committed to the mission of the Church. At the end, he empacted the Papal Blessing from Rome on them. The event was marked by vibrant liturgical celebrations and renewed expressions of ecclesial solidarity within the Diocese.
